THE DALHOUSIE LODGE STORY
|
Dalhousie Lake is approximately 1.5 hours north of the 1000 Islands and 1 hour from Ottawa, Canada's capital city. The property is situated near the middle of the north shore on this beautiful 3-mile long, 1-mile wide lake, which is used almost exclusively as a summer vacation spot. Visitors to the lake come to fish, golf, enjoy water sports, or just relax and read. The lake has very clean, clear water and a sandy bottom that slopes gradually from a shallow shoreline, making it ideal for swimmers of all ages.
Dalhousie Lodge consists of the main cottage and several other 3-4 bedroom rental cottages. All are clean, comfortably furnished, and contain bathrooms with showers and complete, well-equipped kitchens. There is a boat launch area for those who bring their own boats and a dock for each cottage. Kayaks, aluminum row boats, a canoe, and a paddle boat are also available for rent. A basketball hoop, horseshoe pits, swimming raft, children’s playground area, and nearby golf courses are also available. Fishing is a popular year-round activity, as the lake contains walleye, large and small mouth bass, pike, bullheads, and a variety of panfish. Licenses are required and may be purchased nearby or online.

The town of McDonald's Corners, 5 miles away, is home to a general store, a weekly farmers' market, and several churches. Further down the road, about 30 minutes away, is the historic town of Perth, where you can find a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, trails and parks, summer theatre venues, art galleries, boutiques, and antique shops. See our Nearby page for more information.
The rental season runs from mid-May through September. Many guests have been returning for years and reserve their spot from one year to the next. We do, however, have a few vacancies each season and would be happy to try to accommodate you. (Please note that we are unable to allow pets in our cottages.)
NOTE: U.S. Customs requires all adults over 16 to present a valid passport/passcard. Children under 16 may use a U.S. birth certificate or passport/pass card.
